Automobiles – If you are new to South Carolina, you will need to obtain South Carolina automobile tags and a South Carolina title. You will also need to obtain a South Carolina Driver’s License. For more information, you may wish to visit the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicle’s web site.
Pets – South Carolina does not have any laws for pet licensing; however, most municipalities have ordinances addressing animals. You can contact your local Animal Control Officer or a veterinarian for more information.
Voter Registration – You may register to vote during regular business hours Monday through Friday at your local Board of Registration; however, registration is not permitted 30 days prior to an election. Although no length of residency is required, you must show proof of residency, such as, a South Carolina Driver’s License and you must be at least 18 years old.
Military – The Charleston Area is home to the following military installations: Naval Weapons Station, the Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center In Service Engineering, East Command, Naval Nuclear Power Training, Charleston Air Force Base, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Army Transportation Corps and the US Coast Guard Charleston Group.
Churches – The Charleston Area is home to numerous churches and synagogues. Some of the congregations date back to the 17th Century and many churches are in historical buildings noted for their architectural design and beauty.
Medical Facilities Charleston is home to the Medical University of South Carolina. One of the premiere medical facilities in the State.
